My full name is Dina Indrasafitri. You pronounce the first name “Dee-na”. I am a freelance journalist, translator and creative worker.
I made my move to the beautiful, vibrant town of Alice Springs, Australia, in 2016 after over a decade of working various writing and designing jobs in Jakarta and Melbourne.
I began my professional journey when I was still finishing up my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology at the University of Indonesia by taking up a freelance gig as a graphic recorder for Phillip Morris Indonesia and an internship with Japanese daily Mainichi Shimbun.
Over the years, I have worked - in full time and freelance capacity – for various companies, including the biggest English language newspaper in Indonesia The Jakarta Post, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and The Guardian. My work has been published in various media, including New Matilda and Imprint - the official magazine of the Northern Territory Writers Centre.
In 2017, I successfully gained my NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpretors) qualification as a professional translator from English to Indonesian.
I am currently completing my Certificate IV in Visual Arts, finishing my novel and routinely performing on various stages in Alice Springs as a poet, spoken word artist and a musician.
And I would love to hear about you, and your projects!
